Can I send text messages from a strategy? Can the SendMail() method be used for this?

The SendMail() will just send out e-mails. If your e-mail client notifies via text you should receive a text message.

I'm not getting emails. I don't know how to set the values on the Misc. tab.

I have a gmail account - for the username and password - which account is it referring to? gmail? NT?

Hello,

The credentials this refers to would be your Gmail account's.

You generally need to use the full email for the username with Gmail.

Once you enter the information, click OK to save the information in the database, then go back to the menu to test it, this ensures that the test is accurate and will tell you if it was successful or not.

OK, I wasn't clicking "OK" first to save in the database - working now.

I'm curious - why do I need to store my gmail account password in NT settings?

This would be for multiple items in the platform, mainly any of the email features.

From NinjaScript any Email you send would require that this is configured to send the email as NinjaTrader does not have an email server in it.

In the overall platform, any option to send an email would require that this is configured as well.
