Starting of strategies - in parallel or serial?

    I would like to ask,
how strategies are starting from Nintrader's Strategies tab. (in NT7)

I select all strategies at once, right click Enable.
Are the strategies started in parallel or just one after another?

My feeling it is completely serial and when I start 50+ strategies,
it takes some really serious time over half an hour...
It would be very nice if NT8 could use all CPU cores and start strategies in parallel,
so the time required to start many strategies would be significantly smaller.

    Hello,

    Thank you for the question.

Currently this would be one after another so a list of strategies would work its way from top to bottom while enabling each.

I will put in a feature request for this item for NT8.

I look forward to being of further assistance.

So 1 strategy takes about 40 seconds?

Is it any faster if you do it 1 at a time, or 5-10 at a time?

Are you doing some serious computations or have a lot of bar data?

I enabled 12 strategies at once and it took under 1 seconds. (market replay), NT 64 bit, 16 gigs.

Depends on what abracadabra the Strategies are doing. For instance, if loading indicators and running various comparisons or (yikes) for loops with COBC false, you can expect some serious delay in startups.

Yes, you are right. One strategy can take 30 secs or more... depending on its complexity.
There are more reasons for this - one is complexity of the strategy,
another count of days processed as Historical data before going to Live mode.

No, it takes the same time every time I run those strategies.
Data / Bars are already loaded and cached, so it is pure time for starting and initialization of the strategies.

That is definitely intense. I have nothing that comes that close.

              Answer to koganam:

              Yes, you are completely right.
The strategies are relatively complex, they are processing 1-tick-bars with 2 months initialization period. This really requires some time even on good hardware.

That's why I would really appreciate starting more strategies in parallel
and not serially one after another.
