Importing a strategy from my laptop to my desktop, but cannot edit strategy

Hi all,

I've just been able to export one of my strategies on my laptop and import it to my desktop computer. I created the strategy from scratch on my laptop.

I can use the strategy in the strategy analyser (backtest, optimise, etc.) but when I go Tool Strategy > Edit Strategy

it's not in the list of strategies.

Does anyone know how to enable to edit it once it's been imported?

Hello scottyheist,

Can you please compile your NinjaScript files and subsequently check if you see the strategy listed at Control Center-->Tools-->Edit NinjaScript-->Strategy.

Please go to Control Center-->Tools-->Edit NinjaScript-->Indicator/Strategy. Double click any indicator or strategy. Right click in the code window and select 'Compile'. Subsequently check if the strategy is listed.

However, when I go Tools > Edit Ninjascript > Edit Strategy, I cannot see the strategy there. Please see image NotThere.png

I built/compiled the strategy on my laptop and now I am trying to edit it on my desktop. All the screenshots are from my desktop.

Are you sure that you exported it unencumbered? Or did you export it as a dll?

I didn't see any option to export as unencumbered or as a dll. I've attached a screenshot of the export process I was using.

Also, now that I've already imported a strategy, I can't seem to be able to remove it because, as mentioned before, it does't appear in the Tools > Edit Ninjascript > Edit Strategy section. It only appears in the drop down menu in the strategy analyser.

You exported it as a dll assembly. That means that it cannot be edited. If you want to be able to edit the export, use the first option on that page; exporting the files as source files. YMMV, but the options seem pretty self-explanatory to me.

You imported an assembly, so remove it as an assembly. File > Utilities > Remove NinjaScript Assembly...
