This error occurs periodically. the strategy files are compiled with debug on etc

Can you please shut down NinjaTrader and subsequently repair NinjaTrader from the 'Programs and Features' menu in the Windows Control Panel. Highlight NinjaTrader 7 and click Repair. Subsequently check if the error still occurs.

I did as you said now I get the attached error in visual studio when i try to attach

Are you sure that your NS custom dll is recompiled with Debug mode enabled?

The Debug Mode is checked on the popup when I right click on the Ninja Editor window and then I compile. I assume that is the correct way to do it.
