Error message : Instrument Type "Stock" not supported

    Hi guys,
I've written a strategy that works fine on my machine. My client cannot run it, because the following message pops up.

Kinetick - End of Day (Free), Order 'NT-00003" can't be submitted: Instrument Type 'Stock' is not supported by any provider connected. affected Order : Buy 197 Stop @ 102.08

The client is using account Sim101. He can successfully run the sample MA Crossover strategy on this same chart.

So something is going on with the code I've provided, yet it works on my Ninja. I need to get to the bottom of what this is, however I'm perplexed at this error message, as it doesn't seem to be possibly correct for Sim101. If you can shed some light on WHY this message could appear, that would be great. The chart was of JNJ. It's in the Instrument Manager no worries.
The strategy is also loading Bars of ^SP500

BTW the client is a very new user, having only recently installed Ninja for the first time. Your support desk have been assisting him.

    cheers,
    saltminer

Hi saltimer, so you are both using the exact same connection setup and order as you are testing this script? The Kinetick free end of day would not have any realtime data, so it could not drive the simulator. I think he would see the issue as well if the SampleMA would actually try to place an order.

      Dear Ninjatraders,

I am seeing the exact same error message here and was wondering if and how you resolved the issue.

I have a strategy that tries to place stock orders, using the Sim101 account and Kinetick. While I am still coding and experimenting, I have no accounts and connections other than the defaults that NinjaTrader comes with.

I am reasonably sure that this is only related to Kinetick and the Sim101 account and has nothing to do with the strategy. To prove this, I have tried to submit an order manually, directly from the control panel. The error message here is: "Kinetick - End Of Day (Free). Order '...' can't be submitted. Instrument type 'Stock' is not supported by any provider connected."

This leads me to the following questions:
      * does Kinetick/ Sim101 support stock orders at all?
      * could this have anything to do with the markets being open or closed?

And in case this doesn't work at all: how else would I be able to create a simulation account to debug my strategy?

      Thank you,
      best regards, Felix

Felix, yes simulating stock trades would be supported however to drive the simulator you would need realtime data which the free Kinetick EOD connection could not offer. You could use the internal, canned simulation feed for example to test order submissions (would be fake internal generated data then though) or you would upgrade to a Kinetick realtime subscription to have access to the realtime data needed.

          Hi Bertrand,

I am not sure I understood you right. So I disconnected Kintetick and connected to the Simulated Data Feed instead. Now placing an order produces the following message: "There is no market data available to drive the simulation engine". Is there any way I can test placing stock trades?

          Thank you,
          best regards, Felix

Hi Felix, you understood correctly - for what symbol have you tried that? Would it be the same for any of the inbuild default stocks, for example MSFT or INTC? If so you say place an order, was that manual or strategy generated one?
