Question about Strategy Wizard

Hi Ninjas,

When I'm in Strategy Wizard, on the page called "Defined Inputs Screen", there are room for create and name until 8 variables, my question is pretty simple:

If I had a code to be optimized, but it'd need more than 8 changing variables, how can I do to so? or is this a limit for a maximun optimizable variables?

Hi,

Through the strategy wizard, you can only have 8 inputs and this cannot be changed if you stay within the strategy wizard.

However unlocking the code will allow you to manually code as many inputs as you wish. This will give you more flexibility when creating your strategy.

Thanks Matthew for your response, but let me explain why I'm asking this.

I have enough time programming several codes, when you're gonna optimize these codes, the variable that actually changes and come in the final results are just the first eight variables. I know that you could X 100 variables but I'm struggling how to include these non-first-eight variables in the optimization reports.

so:

- Is there any way that you could use in order to have on these final results, variables that are not just the first eight of the strategy wizard?

I mean: in order to have an optimized Algo, you need to know what are the values for all variables included, and that info comes in the optimization final results, where just there's room for eight of them. Unless there's any method using print or similar

Hello pstrusi,

There are only 8 inputs in your strategy parameters because of limitations with the Strategy Wizard. The Strategy Wizard is only able to create 8 inputs.

The strategy creates these as strategy properties by making both a private and a public variable.

If you unlock the code for editing, you can create these yourself and will not be limited to 8.

You could optimize over 100 variables if you make 100 public variables in your script.

Attached is an example where you can optimize 10 variables.
