Strategy in a template

Is it possible to create a default strategy in a saved template? When I load a template would like the strategy associated with that template to load as well. Is this possible?

Hello pman777,

The only template that you can save for a Strategy is by right click inside the Parameters section of an Indicator/Strategy and select "Set Default for <NameOfScript>" to be able to save the settings of an Indicator/Strategy so that you do not have to keep changing them. Note that these setting will be the same for All Instrument and Time Frames.

Chart templates will not be able to save any Strategy.

thank you ... is there a way to save a 'workspace' so that a set of strategies appear in the strategy tab ... then all I would need to do is enable them?

Hello pman777,

The Strategy is not saved in a workspace file, it is saved in the Database file, but it is possible to load a Strategy in the Strategy tab using a workspace.

So if you save a workspace with a Strategy inside of the Strategy tab, as long as you are using the exact same Database file, NinjaTrader will load up the Strategy.

thanks ... but when you refer to a "Database file" what exactly is that? Do I set that?

NinjaTrader's database is a file which is located in the Documents > NinjaTrader 7 > DB folder. The file is named 'NinjaTrader.sdf'.
