viewing orders on chart?

The good news my strategy logic and execution works as planned, the bad news, or at least the desire now is to view the stop-losses, targets etc while I am in a trade with the strategy running.

I'm not even sure that the above would make sense to anyone so let me give you an example, and remember that it all does work as I have been running it 'live' on a SIM account (SIM101 on N/T)

The strategy fires off a "long". It immediately sets a stop-loss of 12 ticks and a profit target of 3 ticks. What I want to SEE is those two orders on the chart.

It'll make it easier for me to debug going forward as I increase the complexity of the strategy (IE resetting the stop loss when trailing a "once it's profitable" trade, etc).

What am I missing in not being able to view the orders?

I have the same thing in Market Replay.

I only see the green profit target lines, and nothing for the stoploss.

I think it relates to the fact that it is using chart trader, which isn't really compatible with strategies. But if you have chart trader open and add the strategy to the tab, it's kind of being used.

Make sure your chart is in SIM101, and chart trader is open.

Hi Sledge

I don't think you can have "Chart Trader" open AND have the strategy running at the same time.

My chart trader option is grayed out and must be that way in order to get the strategy tab useable.

Or am I misunderstanding you?

Yes to SIM101. I can watch it fire off wins and losses with the price and green/red lines and all that stuff, just fine. I just can't "View" the pending orders anywhere...

I opened up ANOTHER chart, the same security as I'm running the strategy on. Then I opened up the Chart Trader on this 2nd chart, and yep,..I see the order in the second chart only.

I guess it's a work-around in a pinch, but it seems kinda dumb to have to have two charts open, doesn't it to you?

You don't have to add your strategy to the original chart.
Add it in the strategies tab in the Control Center.

If you get the "stops" to work, let me know. I only see the green targets.

If you do anything with chart trader (close, reverse position, buy more, etc), the strategy is immediately canceled and you have taken manual control.

i've got it working as per my last, or should I say I can view it. I guess I only have ever added a Strat directly to a chart so I didn't know I could do it elsewhere. I haven't tried it yet but I assume that's how you do it and that it works. It beats pulling up two charts

As for you not seeing your stops, I don't know man, because my strategy works exactly as written and it all shows up on my chart. BTW it shows up on the chart I add it to, (the green and red lines), not the chart that I can view the order on (my 2nd chart).

Now that I think of it, is it because you add yours to the Strategy Tab and not a chart? Maybe you have the reverse problem I did, lol.

Either way, I can get to everything I need to now.

I've added resetting of stops etc and the debugging by 'viewing' worked great.
