    Expanding memory usage

    Hi guys,
I'm running a server with Ninja on it, it has 18 strategies running on the Control Centre, with varying time periods 60 to 240 minutes.
Ninja is left running, no restarts.
Ninja is saving live data as historical.

Memory usage has crept up until the server is maxed out.

    So some questions:
Is Ninja memory hungry because we are running 18 strategies, all collecting tick data?
Is there an upper limit to this memory requirement so that we might just leave Ninja running indefinitely?
OR do we need to shut down ninja regularly (weekends) to reset the memory use because Ninja will just incrementally require more and more memory over time?

    Many thanks,
    saltminer

There are currebtly 2 active posts about this(in market replay, with strats consuming memoepry and crashing,) although yours is extreme in different ways.
What are the specs on ypthis server?

How many trades are you doing a day/week?

    I reboot my laptop weekly..

saltminer, I would recommend doing a reset / restart on the weekend, so that resources could be free'ed up from running the strategies and collecting your tick data throughout the week.

The server has only 1GB, so upping that to 2GB sounds like a reasonable choice.
Two or three dozen trades a week.

What kind of a server has only 1GB of ram these days or is this a thread from like 10 years ago?

The kind you pay to be close to CME :-)

Heres an NT partner. There are other places too that sell such services.

I doubt you would run NT if you're paying to be close to CME, but it's a fair point regarding a virtual server. Still 1GB is not enough to run NT in any serious manner. In my experience if your program stores a lot of irrational doubles in DataSeries, this will cause NT memory usage to blow up. I get around it by rounding these before putting them in the DataSeries list.
