Hirarchical user defined parameters for a strategy

    Hi

I have a strategy with some categories of user defined input parameters and I was able to put them categorized nicely via examples in this forum in a single-level tree like form. Is there any way to make it a 2-level tree form (in the properties region) ?

    Thanks

    tickling,

Unfortunately this wouldn't be supported. It may be possible however. I would suggest checking around the forum as well as at bigmikes trading forum.

One could declare a string variable where the user could enter hierarchical data as comma separated text.

Is there any way for a Ninjascript programmer to add the "..." button to parameters dialog, so as to allow the user to bring up a custom menu?

        Borland,

NinjaScript is full C# so it is possible to add custom buttons, etc. However unfortunately we wouldn't be able to assist there since it can get more complicated to help individuals should they run into any issues.

You mean full .NET capable? I have the C# language specification and there's nothing in there about hacking into undocumented NinjaTrader features.

It would be better to see such basic features (like custom menus) supported and documented by future updates of NT7.

Additionally, more extensive Strategy Wizards should be developed to help simplify Ninjascript strategy development for multi-timeframes and trade management.

            borland,

Yes, it is based on .NET.

I will forward your suggestions to our development team. Thanks for your suggestion!

Ill post a tracking number here when I hear back.

Thanks Adam_P. I went treasure hunting as you suggested and I (and many others) would be grateful for a list of properties including but not limited to the following :

              [Gui.Design.WizardCondition("Indicator")]
              [Gui.Design.DisplayNameAttribute("Holiday 18 /No Trade Date")]

              I think I understand those

              [Description("e.")]
              [Category("ext Day")]
              [Gui.Design.DisplayName("Holiday 16 /No Trade Date")]

and the way to order them in the GUI using a "\t" prefix to bypass the alphabetic order.

I do understand you do not want to support it. That is reasonable. Just list them in a respectable post and let us play with them along with a disclaimer. Sending your customers to google your undocumented features is somewhat inappropriate (certainly when some people seem to have that information). We are adults. Thanks.
