Executing IB Orders from Strategy Chart

I'm trying to experiment with executing orders in my Interactive Brokers Account based on a strategy that's added to one of my chart windows. I can see orders executing in the NinjaTrader Control Center, but I don't see these same orders being executed in my IB paper trading account. Is there a way to do this or does it work only on live IB accounts?

Gennaker, it would work on a paper account as well, but only if you used an NT live license that would allow you to place orders to external (live) accounts. If you have a live license be sure to uncheck Global Sim Mode in the File menu and then you should be able to start your strategy on the IB DU paper account connected as well.

Bertrand, I unchecked the Global Sim Mode, but I'm not seeing the trades show up in the IB DU paper account. I'm wondering if the account has not been selected somewhere in NT?

Gennaker, unchecking the 'Global Sim Mode' only unlocks the explicit account selection - if you're starting up your strategy, please ensure the account setting points to the DU paper account you actually wish to execute to, then orders should show up there, too.

Where do I go to configure my account settings to transmit live orders?

Anytime you submit a live order there is an account specification. In a new strategy, Account will be an available drop down menu item in the strategy parameters (right side of a chart's right click > Strategy window). From there you select your live IB account. You will need the account configured and connected prior to enabling a strategy to it.

Thanks Ryan. I found the drop down menu for accounts when I added a strategy to the chart. However, my paper trading account does not show up. I think there is something wrong with the configuration for this account, but I can't figure it out.

I can connect and get a date feed from my live IB account but I can't get it straight away on the paper trading account even though all the settings are the same. The only way I can connect to the paper trading account is to first connect to the live account, disconnect, then connect to the paper trading account. I think this may be why NT only shows the live account in the drop down menu. Would appreciate any clues.

Hi Gennaker, what NT7 and IB TWS versions do you use here? If you just connect to your paper account connection, what error (if any) would be thrown? In order to help you troubleshoot it would help us if you could contact support via Help >> Mail to Support from your NT Control Center, this way the diagnostic trace / log files would be send in for review as well.

IB TWS Build 921.5

I attempted to log on again and sent an email with the log and trace files.

Bertrand, the paper account loaded up right away and I was able to select the DU account from the chart strategy pick list. Thanks for your help.
