    Populate IB Charts Historical data

I have a Interactive Brokers account. They don't provide historical data.
What are the steps to populate a trading account

    Hello,

Interactive Brokers does not offer historical tick data, however they do provide historical Minute and Daily data.

Click here for more information on the varying levels of data of our supported connectivity providers

You should be able to load a Minute chart with your IB connection. Please let me know if this is not the case.

If you would like to receive historical tick data, you will need to subscribe to a secondary provider who will offer historical tick data.

our preferred market data service is Kinetick. Real time service starts as low as $50 per month or completely free if all you need is end of day data. If you trade CME Globex products, you can have these exchange fees waived if you have a qualified brokerage account.

This service is only available for NinjaTrader 7.

Please visit www.kinetick.com for more detailed information.

I am using 6Renko for the 6E and NQ instruments.
So what do you suggest as the steps to take?

If you do not have access to a historical data provider who offers tick data, you will need to collect this data in real-time and save it as historical.

You can set this up by going to Tools--> Options--> Data tab--> ensure "Save chart data as historical" is checked.

With this option checked, you can open a renko chart and let the data collect in real-time. As long as this chart is opened, this data will be saved as historical to be used for later.

Does this mean that historical tick data is required for Renko charts and the IB backfill will not work in this case?

            Hello,

This is correct. Would only work for live moving forward since there is no historical backfill on tick data from IB. If you need historical tick data but would like to continue to use IB. You might consider purchasing a secondary data feed provider such as www.kinetick.com . They have a vast array of tick data available for download. Email sales at kinetick dot com if you have any questions on their service.
