multiple crashes in replay

often when rewinding replay, after running a strat that placed trades, and starting replay at the same time without any changes to the strat parameters or code, MR will crash NT.

Even if strat is removed prior to rewind and enabled again prior to replay, NT will crash on the strat trying to place the first trade.

this is really annoying as NT needs to be restarted essentially on every replay

Are you on NT7 R7 here?

Does it happen on any market / timeframe you use for replay and even with the default SampleMACrossover strategy used?

Is your RAM used in the PC overclocked by any chance?

only using 15 range bar chart ....6B 09-11

have only used my strat

problem appears to be when I edit/compile strat prior to rewind.... then on first atmstrategycreate() instruction it crashes NT

again, it appears that if you do not open/edit/compile strats that have been running, then MR will rewind and replay without incident

so, MR must have problem with changes to .cs files in between replays

ATI user, thanks for the details and files - I tried with a copy of the SampleAtmStrategy and could unfortunately not reproduce a crash here on my R7. Are you flat when you rewind or would a position be open / orders working?

Just in case : could you please apply this hotfix here for SQL CE and then retry if you could still reproduce it?

i am flat...however it seems to crash if I edit/compile the strat prior to rewind

Thanks, just retried here and was unable to reproduce a crash :

a) Did you apply the SQL CE fix already?

b) can you please try with a copied SampleAtmStrategy and edit / compile this as you're flat again and then rewind? Would it crash as well on your setup?

c) Does it happen on other days and instruments as well?

A. prior to hotfix

1. my strat ... run on 6B 10 range chart....places trades...pause replay prior to my strat automatically closing open positions(i.e. not flat)....edit/compile strat...rewind...crashes on placing first order

2. test strat (copy of sampleatmstrat) - placed limit order which filled and went flat...changed strat to place market order instead of limit order...compiled...rewind...crashed on placing first order..

on opening NT again, could not get my strat nor test strat to crash....still trying

did not install hotfix

Thanks for the reply, is the MR data downloaded from our server? Which day is being replayed here? Since the reproducability is on and off for you, are you overclocking your RAM by any chance on this PC? I have seen cases where this lead to spurious crashes...

data is for 1 aug 2011 6B downloaded using file/utilities/download replay data (so NT server)

Thanks for the confirmation, tried on 10 and 15 Range for 6B 09-11 on Aug 1st and could so far not reproduce any crash - same for you in 32 and 64 bit NT7?

just crashed again...same deal...edit/compile...rewind...crash

it definitely has something to do with changing the strat prior to rewind

my workaround has been to remove the strat before making change....this works 100% of the time
When I forget to remove start, make a change, and then rewind it crashes 90% of the time

I tried the same here on 32 and 64 bit and could still not reproduce unfortunately - do you have / know Jing and could perhaps record quickly the exact actions you take on your end to produce this issue? That would immensly help in getting a reproducible scenario dialed out - if you wouldn't mind doing this, please contact me at support at ninjatrader dot com with the steps / clip.

And I would suggest to install the hotfix for the SQL CE perhaps in a quiet minute in the trading day and then recheck, just to ensure this is also as up to date as possible.

still crashing...even when strat is not in chart when rewinding...i.e. getting worse

is the hotfix for 64 bit or 32....I can only run 32 NT
