Strategy Development

I am at step 0 on building trading strategies. My goal is to code and test my rules/models to generate signals but not automate the entire trade(e.g. execution and ATM) process. Where is the best place to start within NT programming/Ninja Script world? Not sure what I shuold read first.

Sorry for the total newbie question and I greatly appreciate everyone's help.
