    Strange error message during order execution

    Please see the encloses screen grab - I received this notification during a trade execution. My log shows actually two concurrent attempts of executing the same buy order - which is something that never happened before.

    Any input would be appreciated.

    Hi Michael, that can occur if you're trading with more than one order close to the current inside market, similiar to the inflight executions one can experience during manual trading, more about this topic can be seen here - http://www.ninjatrader.com/support/h...d_approach.htm

      Not sure you posted the right link:



      What I'm seeing here is a treatment on managed vs. unmanaged executions. Would you care to elaborate on 'inflight executions'? Or point me to a discussion of this topic?

        That's the intended link, it would discuss the overfill issues, the unmanaged approach just would enable dedicated custom code handling of those issues, as overfills could be ignored.

          Okay, I understand what you meant now and I'm aware of this issue. However, there was only one contract order present - not multiple contracts. Also entry was taken on the start of the 12:02pm candle and exit during the 12:03 candle. So how could this happen?

            Molecool, to understand the sequence of events that led to this notification we would need to review your trace / logs from today - please submit them in via Help > Mail to Support and reference this thread in your subject please.

              Done - sent you the trace file to your support email. There was no log file for today for some reason...

                More information

                I was able to observer the very same error again. What is happening is that NinjaTrader puts on the exit order which is listed in orange and says 'pending'. Then it suddenly hangs for about 20 seconds and all panels (i.e. charts and Control Center) go completely white. Then it finally comes back and the order is being filled. Bear in mind that this is only with a demo account and I am not actually connecting to a broker to execute a real order.

                Finally, I yet again received that weird error message (see enclosed image).

                This appears to be something with NinjaTrader itself - not the actual order flow - again, it's currently only running on the Sim101 account.

                  molecool, can you please reset your Sim account and see if the issue persists? If that doesn't work, can you go a step further and reset your entire DB? That will erase your ATM strategies and such, so make sure you have a backup.

                    Please provide instructions on how to reset my sim account.

                    Also, what do you mean a db reset will erase my ATM strategies and such? Will it erase all my strategies in the bin/Custom folder? That would be a BAD thing.

                      To reset your sim account: Tools -> Options -> Simulator -> reset -> select account -> OK.

                      I misspoke earlier about what is erased. A database reset will erase your historical orders, historical executions, and historical ATM strategy performance. It will not reset the ATM strategy templates, nor will it reset historical chart data.

                      Your strategies will definitely be preserved, but it sounds like you should make a backup in case anything ever happens to your NinjaTrader installation since you are worried about your strategies. To create a backup go to File -> Utilities -> Backup -> backup whatever you want.
