    Buy, Sell, SellShort, BuytoCover

Why when submitting a Sell order does it enter short? Isnt that what the Sell Short Command is for?

Is there a way to prevent a strategy from trading either long or short to keep this reversal from happening?

    Hello neb1998,

If you're using SubmitOrder() in an unmanaged strategy, then it will just submit the order you put in.

The designation SellShort or SelltoCover is required for some brokerages, but most will just see a sell order and if you're flat at the time then the order places you short.

If you use the managed order system, there are built in protections for this. An ExitLong() statement is a sell order that requires a long position before it's submitted.
