    setting account in strategy

    How do I set the account number in a strategy so the order gets placed from the correct account?

    Hi Folls,

    You don't need to program which account the strategy will run on. When you load try to startup the strategy in the "New Strategy" dialog window there is a section called "General" and in that section there is an option called "Account". You can select your account from there.

        I'm connected to IB in the Control Center but when I try to select the IB account in the Strategy Properties window I see just Sim101 grayed out and can't select anything else. IB is providing data to the chart so I know that the connection is there in that regard.

          Please uncheck File > Global Simulation Mode

            Global simulation was not checked. I find that if I uninstall and reinstall the strategy to the chart I have the account choice but not after that. That is not a big thing really, it could be by design...

            Currently I finally got past the initial confusion enough to have a strategy running but I cannot get the ATM strategy to fire off after the strategy takes a position... I'm rereading the help sections but not finding a good reason about that yet.

              Could you provide me steps on how to reproduce? If you are using a license that allows live trading, any account selection control should not be grayed out.

                If I could provide steps I could probably figure it out!! I've been playing with NT all day, if I can restart the whole program and get the grayout to occur I will do so...

                  I restarted NT completely, connected to IB [sim account], put the strategy into the chart and initially I could select the account but after that it is grayed out... the strategy is very simple, it enters at the open tick of the bar...

                    By license, you mean I am paid up customer? I should be... I think my account got dinged a few days ago...

                      I just checked the accounts, payment was made a couple weeks ago...

                          Thanks, I was not doing anything important today, just playing with the idea of semiautomating some of my trading activities... If I can get the ATM to fire off after a strategy entry it will be good...
