    Strategy Orders and Positions

    Hello,

I was wondering if there is a way to not cancel orders or close all positions when you close or disable the strategy.

If I have a position open with a strategy and want to change the settings then I need to disable the strategy which in turn closes the open position. I would like to disable a strategy and have the bracketed OCO orders wtih the open position stay open.

I do not want to close the position. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Update

I actually found how to not close the position and cancel orders when I disable the strategy but there is a little catch.

I check in the control center and the orders are all there meaning the position is open and the bracketed OCO's are pending. There is a stop and three targets all of which a have been left alone after I disable the strategy.

Here is the problem. When re open or enable the strategy again it cancels all the OCO orders and leaves the position open so now I am left naked in the market. So the position stays open without the stop and profit targets attached to the position.

Any advice would be very helpful.

DJ, if you re-enable the strategy then - is the strategy position still the same?

Here is a picture of the control panel after I disabled the strategy. Now as you can see all the orders are still in place and the position is still open. Therefore all the bracketed OCO's are still in place and the position did not close.

This is exactly how I want the control panel to look, with all my orders in place and the position still open, when I open or enable the strategy again.

What is happening is that all the corresponding bracketed OCO's have been canceled but the position remains open.

And yes to your question, all 16 of the original orders stay open in the position.

        Any suggestions?

Can you please answer the question how your strategy position looks like when you re-enable the strategy?

          Thanks,

No the position line in the strategy shows no position but there is still an open position listed under the positions tab in the control center.

            Thanks - DJ

Since the strategy position it paramount, it thinks it's flat and does not need the exit brackets anymore - have you tried starting it up in 'WaitUntilFlat'?

                Hello,

I tried "WaitUntilFlat" and it did not work. I just do not understand why it leaves my position open and all the orders open after I click on the disable strategy, but then cancels the orders when I enable strategy.

I guess if I am understanding correctly is the strategy thinks the position is closed when if fact it is not. But believing there is no open positions the strategy then cancels the bracketed OCO orders.

                Any other suggestions?

                  Hello PositionSizer,

The behavior for this is detailed on the account syncing page:

What you're likely seeing is: Any active orders on the account previously generated by the strategy that does not match* an active strategy order will be cancelled. Should the strategy be unable to cancel and receive confirmation on the cancellation of these orders within 40 seconds the strategy will not start and an alert will be issued.

In order for the strategy to manage these orders, the details of the actual order you placed must match exactly with the details of the virtual order when the strategy is run on historical data.

*A previously generated order is considered to match an active strategy order when the order action, order type, quantity, limit price, and stop price are exactly identical.
