    Why was this position "synced"?

    NT Support,

    Could you please help me?

I am currently live testing a strategy. Today I have re-launched the strategy after the weekend and I have had a legitimate position synced out. The strategy should be one short on the AUDJPY and looking to scale into another two positions as the price falls. Here, the existing position has been synced closed (see screen shot).

Have I missed something with the settings there? I wanted NT to acknowledge the position open and prepare to open an additional position with the trend.

    Thanks and regards,

    drolles

drolles, what was your account position showing before you enabled the strategy? It looks like there were for 2 shorts in the account, so the autoSync bought back 1 to be in sync with the strategy position.

      Bertrand,

      Thanks for the response.

The account was short one. The strategy was showing a single short. These are both correct and as it should have been. However, the single short position was closed by the sync order, which was incorrect. It should have been left open and preparation for scaling into the position should have commenced.

      Kind regards,

      drolles

        Hello,

        Thanks for your note.

What this tells me is that your strategy position was not short when you started the strategy it was flat, as this would account for the sell 1 order to syncronize the account to equal the strategy position.

This short position was it taken manually by you or be the exact same strategy running the day before?

Also are you using anything to limit the strategy to run live only?

I look forward to assisting you further.

          Brett,

          Thanks for your reply.

What tells you that the strategy position was not short? Can you please help me understand why you are saying that? The screen shot attached clearly says “Short Entry” on one of the later bars on the Nov 26th.

The strategy was short, it was short a position before I launched it on Sunday night (GMT). It had been short since before the weekend when the strategy was running against the market from Friday afternoon (GMT). It was not entered manually.

Your question regarding the “exact” same strategy running. The exact same strategy was running, however, with a different price feed. Is that relevant here?

          Kind regards,

          drolles

drolles, what Brett meant was this - if the account holds a short and the strategy position is flat, resulting sync order would be to buy 1 market so the real account mirrors the strategy positon held.

To investigate the issue, we would need your trace / log files as the events that took place would be listed in those.

                  Bertrand,

Could you please help me here again?

I've got another situation where a position was closed (not opened as I would have expected).

I've emailed the usual support address with an attached doc and screen shot.

                  Thanks and regards,

                      Bertrand,

I think I have determine why this is not working; I’m assuming that a close position sync will be performed if the positions do not match in quantity while matching in direction and instrument?

                      Thanks and regards,

                      drolles

Hi drolles, correct they will have to match up exactly.
