Flatten all when market thins out drastically
We are looking to have our automated strategy be able to take the pulse of the S&P Emini market data, and for the automated strategy to pull itself out of the market (i.e. flatten all), if ever the market liquidity drastically thins out, or start skipping around frantically (e.g. just before a financial number, or after dire news event) Would appreciate any code suggestions on how to define a market thinning occurrence or accomplish the goal stated above? Thanks..Tags: None

sev888, halting a strategy can accomplished with those ideas presented here - http://www.ninjatrader.com/support/f...ead.php?t=4804
You could for example define liquid trading hours in advance from historical analysis (for example start monitoring Globex trading by 7 AM EST) or you run some historical avg volume calculation for an half hourly / hourly interval and define in what conditions your signals works best so you could work it into the triggers.
For news events, try defining user DataTime inputs that you could fill in advance by skimming through the economic event calenders published on several web sources.

It is unsupported, but I have a GetFlat() method I use some times:

- Excessive exchange data delays or interproduct data delays
- Unusually wide spreads
- Unusually low total DOM (add the first five rows in Bid and Ask and compare them with something)
- Price deviations to where trades might get busted around circuit breaker levels
You might get some ideas from the NANEX and SEC/CFTC reports that came out recently.
