    Incorporate PMA in strategy

    Hallo,
I found a very intersting indicator called Predictive Moving Average (Ehlers) but I don´t know how to incorperate it in a strategy because of the parameters.
I hope somebody can help me.
    Thank you in advance
    Benjamin

    Hello,

    Thank you for your note.

It does not appear that this indicator has any input parameters or they would be displayed in that box.

Let me know if I can be of further assistance.

      Hallo Brett,
thank you for your reply. Is it possible to modify the indicator to use it in a strategy?
      Thank you

        Hello,

Would be possible yes, you would goto Control Center->Tools->Edit NinjaScript->Indicator.

Let me know if I can be of further assistance.

I know it has been a while since this post but I also have recently discovered the PMA and was frustrated by no variables. I followed the advice in this thread to the extent of opening the code and having a look... but I am no programmer - but I found that it was using a WMA. So I did some trial and error stuff and found that if you use a 5WMA and a 12WMA you shoudl have something pretty close to the PMA. Also if you download the "slingshot indicator" you can have a beautiful coloured channel between the two to see very quickly which way things are headed.

            Re: Incorporate PMA in strategy

I noticed the PMA indicator as well... it's from John Ehler's book Rocket Science for Traders.

There are no parameters for this indicator because the code in the book hard-codes for a 7 period, and I think the NT programmers might have just coded it as-is without enhancement. Not sure if this was intentional by the author but it reads more like an example as part of a larger chapter on predictiveness rather than an actual tradable indicator.

I did write a quick strategy based on PMA using the wizard... basically the logic goes:
if the Predict_Plot crossabove Trigger_Plot go long

and do the opposite to go short. The results of my own testing were horrible, but maybe it could be improved if a period parameter were added... but only Ehler's could really be qualified to answer this.

            hope that helps
