Idiots Guide to Condition Building

I have watched the vids and read the blurb and rattled through some Threads on this site - all very interesting stuff. However I am starting at the beginning with NJ and trying to desperately understand why my very basic strategies are not working.

If for example, I wanted to enter short when stochastic is crosses below 80, exit short when stoch is crossed above 20, enter long at that point and exit when it crosses back down.

Not something I want to do, but I cannot seem to get the wizard to stay in a trade even though I have tried various options, plus I sometimes have the problem that it won't pick up the second set of instructions.

Is there an Idiots Guide to the way Conditions have to be built? Is there an order that has to be followed, is there something blazingly obvious that I have missed? yes I am that Idiot then!

If there is help page I have missed - sorry to trouble you, but can someone please point me in the right direction

Hi Ben,
really appreciate your offer of help. I live in Ireland so although I have read and watched everything I can, the webinars are sometimes too late for me, as in this case. I have earmarked a day for me to 'stop up' . I have been to all the ones I can. I am attaching a couple of screen shots of a really basic short strategy which enters when the stochastic has crossed below 80 and exits when PB Sars has crossed from being over the close bar to under the close bar. Hopefully if I can get this to work I can move to more complex strategies.

You are welcome.
I suggest:
1- Creating a strategy that tests one thing at a time. For example, create a strategy that plots a dot if the open > close to check to see if you are plotting the dot correctly. Then once you have done that, change the stoch. criteria only and plot a dot only. Keep building complexity until something fails. Then you know exactly what is not working

2- Tie your entries with your exits via signal names.

Give that a try, and when something does not work, post again.

sorry to be troubling you again - I seem to be making progress, but the 'strategy' closes at the end of each session. I seem to remember reading a thread on this and that NJ was set automatically to do this but I can't find the thread again - seem to have read reams lately.
Can you tell me how I can set it so that I stay in a trade until my exit criteria are fulfilled.
