Using external text or excel files in NS

I have a strategy that requires a significant amount of user input prior to it running. Instead of making 40 manual input boxes i would like the strategy to import a file that contains these values before it executes.

Loading data from an excel sheet would be preferred, but any way to load external variables would be helpful. Is there a way to do this?
