    Buying on Close

    Hello,

I am trying to build a strategy that will enter a position when the RSI falls below a certain level close to the end of the trading session and buy before the close. Then sell when the RSI is above a certain level just before the close and sell. When I build a strategy it seems that it is always looking at the day before and buying the next day... How do I go about changing that?

    Thanks!

In fact, I want to simulate buying right at the close and selling at the close... I should not need intraday data for that, right?

delalaym, you will need intraday data to do that. It is simply not possible to "look inside" the daily bars to get intraday data.

OK... Though I should not need it... Meaning that I want to simulate buying at the price of the close. I have that information with EOD Data. I don't need to know the intraday information. But what happens is that the Strategy Analyzer opens the position on the opening price of the NEXT day. I want the CLOSING price of the day the event is happening...

        Thanks!

Yes, this is unfortunately expected - the bar closes on the open tick of the following bar, thus too late to act on the 'close' - you would need to add a finer granularity as Austin already indicated -

You can submit orders to different Bars objects. This allows you the flexibility of submitting orders to different timeframes. Like in live trading, taking entry conditions from a 5min chart means executing your order as soon as possible instead of waiting until the next 5min bar starts building. You can achieve this by

            Hello,

I guess I would not need data with a lot of granularity. Is there a free (or really cheap) way to get intraday historical data. I don't need realtime feeds...

            thanks!

Are you trading FX spot based products? Then you could use the free Gain / Forex.com connection -

For equities and futures realtime, please check into our third party data feed vendors like eSignal, BarChart or DTNIQ -
