    multitimeframe strategy. how about indicator

    i have a multitimeframe strategy
    protectedoverridevoid Initialize()
    {
    CalculateOnBarClose =
    false;
    Add(PeriodType.Minute,
    1);
    Add(PeriodType.Minute,
    5);
    Add(PeriodType.Minute,
    30);
    }

    now i want to check the CCI value at the 30 minute timeframe.

    switch (BarsInProgress) {
    case1: // 1 MINUTE BAR

    break;
    case2: // 5 MINUTE BAR

    break;
    case3: // 30 MINUTE BAR

    // if the prev bar is HH7 then start looking for trades

    if((Position.MarketPosition == MarketPosition.Flat) && ( CCI(14)[1]>-200))
    {
    // we got a situation here. lets test it out.

    }

    how do i know that the CCI 14 value is calculated on 30 minute timeframe?

    junkone, you would need to calculate your CCI then on the 30 min bars array (3 in your case) -

      in the example given,
      SMA(BarsArray[1], 20)[0])

      the SMA takes in a barArray.
      i have a custom indicator. do i have to add any functionality to it so that it can take in a custom bararray. if so is there any example.

        Not sure I follow you, the CCI would also offer an overload to pass a dataseries in.

        Code:

        double value = CCI(BarsArray[1], 20)[0];
        You can either amend custom indicators to take a dataseries input, or call them in the correct BarsInProgress context -

        Code:

        if (BarsInProgress == 1)
        double value = CCI(Close, 20)[0];

          for eg. i have a custom NR7 indicator. how do i make it function for incoming barseries.
          protectedoverridevoid Initialize()
          {
          //Add(new Plot(Color.FromKnownColor(KnownColor.Orange), PlotStyle.Line, "Plot0"));
          CalculateOnBarClose = false;
          Overlay =
          true;
          PriceTypeSupported =
          false;
          }

          protectedoverridevoid OnBarUpdate()
          {
          // lots of logic
          )

            junkone, there's no generic 'switch' unfortunately you can turn on, you need to weave into its code, or call the method in the correct BIP context as shown in prior post from the strategy then.

              The reason i am taking on a mesage below the thread is becaues the point you identified is incorrect. When i look at my custom indicator, NT has built in a constructor that takes in a data series. i dont know what this one does and how it relates to what i am looking for. does it mean that any custom indicator has build in functionaity to take in a dataseries and calculate different timeframes?

                junkone, correct all indicator methods implement the IDataSeries interface, provided the 'NinjaScript generated code' section is intact and not removed / modified - http://www.ninjatrader-support.com/H...InputData.html

                Thus you can pass in your barsArray as needed then like shown in the sample CCI call below.
