    Strategy Performance Feedback for -Forex

I developed a system for trading Forex markets. I'd like to hear some feedback from people that have developed trading ideas on these markets. I back tested for 2008-2009 with Market Data from my broker. I'm in the process of doing more research on historical data providers for forex for market years 2001-2007.

I have a BA from NYU in Economics so I use a variety of methods I learned and tested during my school years.

Nice work congrats - did you include trading costs such as spread in the stats? Otherwise a 35 $ Avg Trade seems pretty low to take it live imho.

Thanks for the feedback. Yes I have included trading costs in the stats. I also have used the "slippage" function in the backtest.

I want to give a big thanks to your team for the enhancements to NT7. The updates to the Strategy Analyzer have allowed me to be more productive in developing and testing ideas. What a big improvement since 6.5. Thank You very much.

            tschalli27........

Yes, the charts are great.....but how can we give feedback on Strategy Performance if you don't show how these results were achieved?

Very nice results! How long have you been working on this?

Just wondering how you determined the proper amount of slippage? I am testing on Eur/usd and a slight adjustment in slippage makes huge differences in my results. Just want to use what matches real life the best! Thanks!

In general I've been working on automated trading strategies for forex for 2 years now.

i have 3 main systems i rely on for the different pairs I trade. For the eur/usd I find this has some predictable areas for observation and profit taking. i like the 50% fib retracement levels on the higher timeframes, the .0000 ending pip numbers, 200sma etc. generally i base my slippage on my risk and target levels.

i usually have a guidline of MAE target of .30% but it largely depends on macro conditions or what is occurring in the markets. i adjust for this daily. for example- with unemployment reports tomorrow i expect for numbers to be slightly worse than expectations so i will not trade until after 10am - est. i also have hit my targets for the week so i'm not pressed to force anything. this is all predicted on my weekly trading plan which is updated on sun nights.

i'm attaching a profit chart for the week so you can see in general i have cut my losses tight.

hope this helps give's you some perspective.
