6.5.1000.14 crash

    6.5.1000.14 crash

    this is new today...no issues ydy

    I can:

    1. open NT
    2. connect to MR
    3. replay a cs for YM...placing trades etc...no problem

    I can not :

    1. connect to Zenfire...says connecting, then connected...however does not turn green and sound alert and does not retrieve any data....can not disconnect...just hangs in that state...can open chart but no data

    2 edit a cs....it instantly crashes to a close program dialog

    Note: I can connect to same zenfire acct with same license key, mahcine id, etc using NT7 beta 5 no problem....this is new today to 6.5

    note: I can run 6.5.1000.9 on my other computer no problem

    same license id etc

    connects to zen

    can edit cs

    sounds like corrupt install on comp 1?

      Hmm might be, please try clearing the cache under MyDocuments\NinjaTrader 6.5\cache and then retry this on the .14 install.

        it started to build an intellisense cache and then crashed

          thought I had it

          cleared the Workspaces folder

          it now connects to zen and loads data fine to a chart

          however....it still crashes when I try to edit a strategy....which is the main reason for which I use 6.5 now the 7 is out

          what can I clear re the editor issue?

            Would then tip on DB or .NET, to test rename the DB file (so current one gets preserved) and then retry again with fresh cache.

              got it

              I took all but the sample strats out of the strat folder and editor works fine

              so...problem is one of my custom strats....

              I have been opening NT7 beta strats in 6.5 and using the editor to debug/convert back to 6.5

              this time the whole thing crashed...

              so I will add back old 6.5 strats and then the 7s until I find the problem

              if need be I will copy the 7 text and try to compile that in 6.5

              will advise

                weird...added back all the old ones plus the new one from today

                all will edit no problem

                so maybe problem was in the 'UserDefinedMethods.cs' file....as it was re-created when I emptied the folder

                must have been corrupt

                    I spoke too soon

                    problem worse now

                    I tried my fix...then your fix with db rename and clear cache

                    can not edit anything

                    of course, 6.5, and 7 for that matter, only show in Strategy list when adding to chart the strats after a Compile

                    since I can not edit....I can not compile ...and therefore can not affect the list

                    I moved all but sample strats out and 6.5 still thinks it has my customs available and actually runs them fine

                    please tell me some basic way to get the Editor working...without a full re-install

                          had same problem

                          Not sure if you might have this same issue...but just this weekend I started to explore the "Strategy" editing and creation features of NT ( I am a new user) and had the exact same crashing (i.e. app encountered fatal error and must close) every time I tried to edit or run a Strategy. I am also using NT6.5 .14

                          I am also running on Windows XP-64 which I know is un-supported but has been working OK up until now. What I did is un-install all the Oct/Nov Windows xp-64 updates....and now NT no longer crashes when using strategies. I think something in those Oct-Nov updates was causing the issue.

                          Anyway just thought this might be useful to now if you too are using XP-64

                            Hi,

                            I have the same problem. Recently upgraded to 6.5.1000.14. Now, after creating workspace I am unable to edit any indicator nor strategy - Ninja crash everytime. Only way to avoid it is to close workspace or empty workspace folder.
                            I am sure you are aware of this behavior, so my question is: is there anything I can do to fix it, or there is no choice but downgrade to 6.5.1000.13?

                              Kowal, I'm not aware of a general issue with this operation - are you saying it's fixed when you're using fresh workspaces and restart NT then?

                              Did you try cleaning out your cache under MyDocuments\NinjaTrader 6.5\cache?

                              What is the Control Center status bar saying? 'Building IntelliSense cache...' and then the crash?
