Couple newbie Q's

I have been using the strategy wizard for some backtesting and have run into a couple of difficulties.

1. I want to allocate the entire account for each trade including the realized profits, is that doable without coding?

2. I keep trying to have commissions included, I defined a commission in Tools>Options>Commissions, and set include commissions to "true" in the backtest, but the never show in the results.

3. I also set exit on close to "false" in the backtest and it always exits on close.

Hello,

1- I don't understand. So if you have 1000 in your account you want to place a trade with the entire 1000? Is is not possible since you will be required to maintain a margin of some amount. You could change your simulated margin amounts in NT very low or zero amounts, but this will not be realistic in live trading.

2- I suggest reviewing this link and trying it again. If you still can't get it to work, please provide a screen shot of what you have entered and I will assist you:

3- I'm not sure what is going on here. Have you tried it with the SampleMACrossOver? Does it still close? If not, its something in your strategy.

Thanks for the quick reponse.

1. Yes I want to allocate the entire account. I guess what I really want to do is have x number of sub accounts that I can assign an instrument to each and allocate the entire amount for each trade in each sub account. Example: 3 sub accounts, each with their own instrument starting with an allocation of 2,000 per sub account.

3.It probably is the strategy, I tried it with the MA Crossover and it works with that just fine. Any guidelines on how to refine the strategy for no exit on close?

Hello,

1- if you have live license you can create more than one sim account, if you do not, you cannot. Go to Tools>Options>Simulator tab>Accounts button. Your live accounts will be organized the way they are at your broker.

2- Yahoo does not have live data so you will not get any results. Use a live data service and connect to it to get the commissions.

3- Yes, there are lots of ways to do it. Are you submitting the orders Gtc or Day? Try Gtc, which means Good till cancelled.
