Any tips on what a guy would want to learn or read about first? I am fairly computer savy as I am an IT network guy in real life.

scripting dummy
Folks, I have NO scripting experience in any computer language. I want to create an automated trading system that mimics a system that I follow every day. How hard would this be for a guy with no knowledge of programing?

tradenoob,
The best way to learn in the beginning is to view NinjaScript that you understand.
For instance, Tools -> Edit -> Indicator, and pick one you grasp the end result of, like SMA. Open it, don't change anything, and read it one line at a time.
C# is not some alien language. It is pretty straight forward english, to read and understand. The harder part is when you want to do something and you don't know the command and haven't found an example. Then you can google it and find it usually pretty instantly.
I would start by spending a few weeks pouring over all the source code you can find on this forum. If you feel overwhelmed, then you should probably hire a Ninja programmer at least for the framework of your first project. OTOH, if you feel like you've learned a great deal and are writing your own code each day you learn something new, then just keep doing it.

I agree with Mike's post. I came here one year ago this week. I had no programming experience at all.
I studied existing programs until they start to make sense, then build on that.
It was hard, but well worth it becouse now I can customize any code that I see potential in, to my preferences.
Good Luck,
RJay
