    Import question

    Hi,
If the data to import has a time stamp of the exchange (ES -> CST), will it translate corectly to my local time or do I need to change my computer time zone to CST?

Your data will be in whatever timestamps you imported with. If will want to make adjustments as necessary to make it conform with your PC clock.

      Josh,
      I don't understand your answer.
If my PC clock is in EST but the import data is in CST will I see it corectly or the time will be shifted?

The data will show up however you have imported it. If the data is CST it will show up with CST timestamps. There is no offset or anything. A 9AM timestamp is a 9AM timestamp. There is no timezone involved.

          Hi Josh,
          I still don't understand.
If my local time is EST and I import data with CST time stamp, will the ES Pit session begin at 9:30 like a live data or it will begin at 8:30?

            Baruch,

It is very simple. There is NO time zone considerations. If your data is timestamped as 9AM on a certain bar. That bar will show up on your chart on 9AM. It will NOT adjust to anything.

              Thank Josh,
So what should I do? The data comes stamped with exchange time, so it should, and my PC is in enother time zone.

                Baruch,

You can open it up in Excel and make tweaks and then import it in.

                  Thanks Josh,
I know that, but its not so easy. Bar with time stamp 11122008 231200 (11 Dec 2008 23:12:00) should be converted to 12122008 001200 (12 Dec 2008 00:12:00)

                    Baruch,

Unfortunately you will have to do the conversions if you want them to be reflected in your NT in that manner.

why don'tyou set your PC time to exchange time?
Then you import the data and it should be merged in the NT database.

Then you exit NT. Then you reset PC time to local time.

Or do I get something wrong ?

                      Andreas

if you like coding, look at

and especially in program.cs at the line

                      DateTime dt=DateTime.Parse(s2,fp);
                      dt=dt.AddMinutes(1);

In your case you would Add 60 Minutes and not 1 minute.

                      Regards

                      Andreas

                        Josh,
                        Will Andreas solution work?
Changing PC to CST> Import > Change back to EST.

You could try. If it doesn't work just purge your data set and start over.

Unfortunately I could not comment on the program.cs approach.

I know that I can try, but you should know what Ninja does. When it receives data in to chart it also have exchange time stamp and Ninja saves the data with local time. So if my local time changes will Ninja change all data time stamp? Don't think so.

As stated, if you want to change the timestamp, change your import file. That is what we support. Anything beyond that you will have to try on your own.

When NinjaTrader receives real-time data it depends on which provider you are using for which timestamping it will use. Some providers will provide data natively timestamped and others will not and so NinjaTrader timestamps them with your PC clock.
