    Anyone Making money???

Wow....how frustrating to work so hard on so many systems that turn out great and that run just fine, but make no $$$!!!!! Is it me, or is it simply impossible??? Every system published as the holy grail is usually just the opposite! Anyone having any luck?

Maybe NinjaTrader would consider adding a "lounge" board. Let all of us traders who don't actually have questions hang out, exchange thoughts/experience/thoughts.

              How to make money

May I suggest the following for those having problems developing a winning system.

Find the system which performs the worse, ie one that is absolutely dreadful and loses lots of money.

Then reverse the buys and the sells.

See this game is really, really easy......

                      Survivorship Bias

I believe you have to consider survivorship bias here. For example a beginning or unsuccessful trader using Ninja will probably spend a lot of time looking at forums to get trading ideas etc.

A very successful trader using Ninja will have a broker trading his system
while he enjoys flying round the world in his private jet.

Therefore which sort of trader is more likely to be reading these forum posts?

I agree with MicroAI. Obviously I'm in the group of people relatively new.

In Dec & January I made a lot of money, I was really happy because it was my first two months and increased my size. End of february and beginning of March I gave it all back and then some. Now I'm scratching my head from the sidelines.

                          Trading is not easy

Joking aside, there is no doubt that this game is very, very hard for a multitude of reasons. I have now come to the conclusion that in order to succeed, an enormous amount of work is required. In the UK you spend three years studying for a degree, which hopefully improves your prospects of getting a better Job. Trading, in my opinion is the same. Nearly every serious book on Trading I have read, suggests that it will take two to five years of full time work to succeed. Of course there will be exceptions to the rule, but I suspect for the majority of us it will be a long hard grind.

I think the problem is that too many Vendors suggest that it is so easy to win at this game with very little work. Why should it be easy? At the end of the day we are are aiming to take money from other traders.

On the positive side the systems available to the retail market, such as Ninja are excellent in allowing small investors to have a chance against the well capitalised professionals. The gap in technology is closing
all the time. The commissions have come down, and the internet allows us to have access to massive amounts of information for free.

I think the Lounge Forum is an excellent idea. Perhaps we should amend the title of this thread to Anyone Making Money (Lounge Forum)

It does take time to develop a strategy that works. You will need a continuos contract datafeed to perform your backtesting accurately. Gapping Each quarter contract does not always work as expected. Lots of Webinars listening. You never find good tips using search engines for words like good setups etc. Took me 6-7 Months to get my first good strategy, earned only 4000K per year. However, it performed as expected. I now have even more better strategies that make my first look like a joke. patience and studying.

My strategy was looking pretty good this option month... but the blow up this morning has really killed it. Just blown it apart.

Sigh. Really have to reconsider now where I want to go with this.

EDIT. I'm a little more optimistic now. The blow-up this morning wasn't *that* bad...

I think I've got a solid idea which is working in real time on *some* stocks, but the problem is I haven't put in enough time trying to figure out how to screen out stocks that it doesn't react well to! I need to work on that next.
