Fills with the IB simulated

I ran my strategy with IB's paper trading account for the first time and I noticed that my strategy put in a buy order for a stock and I got filled 8 minutes later. I log in my strategy when I issue the buy order and I see on the chart when it got filled. I'm wondering how it could get filled 8 minutes later when using the simulated account? This is my last test before trading it with my real account and i'd like to figure out why this happened. In the past I've noticed fills can be slow with the paper account, but to test this out I did several orders by hand with TWS and they went off immediately.

I'm hoping there is a simple explanation but I really don't know. I will run again tomorrow with traceOrders = true.

If you place the order and it is still active it will fill as soon as market conditions allow it to be filled.

I'm wondering if there is a problem with the paper account? It was a market order, 300 shares so no major size, and there was sufficient volume (2000 shares per minute). So I see no reason why it wouldn't have filled immediately, especially with a paper account.

This is my first time using IB as a broker with NT. In the past I've used Mirus and fills were always instantaneous.

Please use TraceOrders and ensure your orders were truly active throughout that period. Then you may want to contact IB to see if there are any delays introduced just on their paper trading accounts.
