ISP problems - set up a dual router that multiplexes both ISP feeds.
Broker outages - you're kind of SOL but you 'could' hedge yourself in a different account by taking an opposing position (in a different account if need be). This way at least you don't come back and the market dropped/rallied by 2% without getting you out.

Josh - is it possible to have a strategy connect to a different broker and take that opposing position?

If you lose order server connection, there is not much NT can do. You will definitely want to call your brokerage and do something about your open position if you have one.

If you lose price server connection and had a backup connection set up, you could potentially still be okay. It will try and loop over to your redundant system.

Yeah, that's probably the best course of action.

It will - if you manage to multiplex two separate ISP feeds it will automatically reroute for you. Just google for 'dual router' and you'll find a few that do the trick - it's a simple and effective solution and I personally believe it is almost essential for any auto-trading operation.

So, which thing is the significant change I can't tell yet, but I would suspect the PCTools. I'd be interested to learn if anyone else is successfully trading while running this package. I'll start a separate thread.

Thanks Ninja guys for all your feedback and support.

We had the same Problem but no Antivirus or FireWall installed on our PC.

Can you please describe your issue. Is it identical to saltminer's issue?

Hi Jason, that's correct. My issue is identical to Saltminer's issue. Sometimes (but not always) just immediately before to send an order, Ninja trader looses the connection and the orders go on "submit pending" state. The only one thing I can do is Swith OFF Ninja trader and re-open it. There's no easy way out. Unfortunately this is an annoying issue as my trading strategy did not close the trade when it reached the target. :// I encourage other people to drop a message and give their feedbacks, because I think this is a general pathsystem issue )

                Hello Antonio,

Do you perhaps have any other spyware installed on your machine that might be interfering with the Patsystems connection?

Have you already tried connecting your machine through wire instead of WAN? Test submitting orders using a different ISP if possible as well as per post # 11.

I have had this happen once again, randomly, even though my spyware software was still off, and am hardwired to my router. I am in agreement with Antonio - that the Patsystems API could well stand some improvement.
I gather that it is not Ninja's responsibility. Any chance of reporting these errors up the chain to the suppliers of the API, and for you to inquire if there is an update to this API?
It is dangerous for us to trade with this API at present.

Perhaps the API requires a response to an order request within a certain timeframe, and if it doesn't get it in time it generates the ConnectionLost. I am in Australia, communicating with a broker in the UK, so my order has to ping around the world. That may take longer than the designers intended as they tested it from their lab into the room next door.

Unfortunately we have no other information at this time than what I posted in post #11 below. Sorry for not having better news ...

Yep, it just happened again, 10:40 CST (exchange time). This is SO frustrating! Trading is impossible under these conditions.

Please advise me of THE MOST ROBUST AND RELIABLE API that you have in Ninja. Whatever the hell it is, if you guys can't help me fix this Patsystems issue at least I'll know what kind of broker to look for.
(If you don't feel you can tell me in this forum, please pm or email me.)

Unfortunately there is no way you could "upgrade" the Patsystems API. However, NT7 will come with the latest version of the Patsystems API, this might make a difference.

                          Hi Dierk,
                          when is NT7 due out?
I suppose it would not be possible in the meantime to do a specific build of 6.5 for us patsystems users who are having trouble?

And you didn't answer my question about other broking connections; what in your experience are the rock solid ones? I mean the ones capable of handling latency well. Please advise.

We do not recommend one brokerage over the other. Please see here for a complete list: http://www.ninjatrader.com/webnew/do...g_software.htm

We expected first beta of NT7 in Q2 09.

Unfortunately we can not provide a NT 6.5 custom build holding latest Patsystems API.
