Strategies and Chart Trader

In the strategy development class today it was mentioned that the reason one can not run strategies and Chart Trader on the same chart is because it could be confusing whether the orders are coming from a Strategy or from a Chart Trader. But it seems quite a broad assumption here that Strategies are used only to place orders based on certain conditions, I am sure a lot of traders are using Strategies for validating certain conditions and creating alerts based on that. I do it all the time and then want to enter using Chart Trader on the same chart if Strategy gives me an alert. Can you please enable this for V7? It is upto the user if they want to enable this, it should be a configurable parameter in options where one can set something like "allow strategies to run on the same chart with Chart Trader". This will help a lot and not require to run two charts of same intervals one for running Strategy to create an alert and another one to enter the trade using Chart Trader.

I too use Strategies to create trading opportunity "Alerts" but not for trade management. Since all my trade triggers are based on multiple time frame analysis using strategies is the only option for now that I know of.

However, as I understand it NT7 will have the capability to do multiple time frame indicators which should solve the issue (or at least they are working towards that). So I patiently wait.

If my assumption is wrong hopefully the NT folks will speak up!

Hi TAJTrades, yes NinjaTrader 7 will allow you to create indicators referencing multiple time frames.

I don't know if this can help or not but, I have the strategy post to Sim with a Sim Dome open which also serves as my alarm etc and then use another Dome to place my real live orders while I can readily see the price the strategy got filled at.
