    bug recording data without chart etc

    I have a blank default workspace and a test workspace with 2 YM charts only...no other windows/charts open...no DOM...no Market Analyzer etc.

    I connect to Zenfire and NT starts recording YM data and ES data. I do not have anything using the ES. This has been happening since Friday when I was testing ES data on a live feed for an hour or so. Since then NT has been recording 8megs+ of ES data per day that I do not want.

    Bug in a workspace? Don't think so. I closed the test workspace....made sure nothing is running at all in default workspace....disconnected Zenfire....connected Zenfire...opened a YM chart only....within a minute, NT starts recording ES data (as well as YM data)

    When I delete the ES data file, within a minute NT adds it back...all with only 1 YM chart running in default workspace

    even weirder...i delete both the ES and YM data ...close the YM chart....and when I disconnect Zenfire, NT adds back an ES 1kb file....

    next ...with no charts running at all and no data files....i connect zenfire....nothing recording of course....then disconnect and NT adds a 1kb ES file

    next i close NT saving the blank default workspace with nothing in it and no other workspaces open....open NT...connect Zenfire....data file for 20081211 is empty....disconnect zenfire and immediately NT adds a 1kb ES data file to the folder

    somehow ES recording is on automatic whether you request it or not

    ES data only would be recorded as you have a subscription. E.g. an ES position on the Sim101 would subscribe to ES to properly calculate unrealized PnL.

      that is not it

      sim101 and replay101 are my only accounts and they are both reset...i.e. no positions and no history

        Then I suggest trying a complete fresh setup with
        - all workspaces removed from <my documents>/NinjaTrader6.5/workspaces
        - removed DB file <my documents>/NinjaTrader6.5/db/NinjaTrader.mdb

        ... to see that it works as expected.

        Note: You may want to create a backup before testing, to restore your settings/data after testing.

          ok...did that in 2 steps

          step 1 -- removed workspaces...restarted NT....it opened with new default workspace...connected zenfire....on disconnect ES file added to data folder

          step 2 -- emptied Workspaces folder....emptied db/data folder....restarted NT...opened in new default...new ninjatrader.mdb file created....connected zenfire....new 20081211 folder created in db/data folder....without creating any charts etc NT added ES file to 20081211 folder ....this time after a minute and without disconnecting

            Try connecting to sim feed to see that it's related to your executions/positions in your ZenFire account.

              i run a demo zenfire feed on my laptop...it has not had this problem

              so i disconnected it from zenfire demo and connected to my live zenfire acct....no ES data recorded...tried connect/disconnect a couple of times and no ES data

              so must be NT install on my main computer and not the live zenfire acct?

                Right as suspected an issue related to your Zen demo account. Unfortunately there is nothing which could be done at this time.

                      you mean i will get the extra data forever? or until the next NT version? or until I contact Zenfire? surely there is some way to resolve at some point?

                              for some very strange reason, NT has now stopped recording ES.

                              the only thing I changed was starting to download/record the new 03-09 YM contract as well as the current 12-08 YM contract

                              perhaps the problem had something to do with Instrument Manager relative to sim account?
