Setting alerts?

In the help guide I see how to set an alert. It is set in the market analyser window. I don't know if i have set it right or it is just not working. The chart price has just moved through my last price" setting in the laert but no alert. Also the setting up did not ask me to set any sound or anything. It seems to be rather inconvenient and not amenable to quick change etc. I was wondering if it is possible to set an alert related to a trend line or a horizontal line. Say i draw a horizontal line oin the chart, how do i set a "price break through or touch the line" alert so it would flash a window and/ or just trigger a sound. I imagine you can change the position of the line just by dragging, right?

Sorry, forgot to put the second part of my question: How do i set an alert for a volume. Say I want the chart to trigger an alert when the volume of the current bar exceeds a certain level on an intrabar basis (since the volume bar is updated with each tick).

Thank you for your post.


1.) Unfortunately you cannot set the alert by a drawing object. I suggest using the "price alert" indicator in the chart.

2.) You can set this up in Market Analyzer:

• Right click in MA and select columns
• Add "Indicator" column and select "VOL" from indicator on the right.
• Click in Alert Conditions Box to bring it up
• Click "New" and choose your colors, message, sound, etc. Set Condition to "is greater than" and input whatever volume level you want.

Thank you for reply. On highlighting "indicator" there is a box on the right but everything is greyed out, and there is no choice of volume.
