    Tidying up old strategy files

I have been tidying up my old strategy files and cutting them out from

    Documents/NinjaTrader6.5/bin/Custom/Strategy

and pasting them to an archive file. Previously this has not been a problem and when I go into the menus in NT like

    Tools/Edit NinjaScript/Strategy
    Or
File/New/Strategy Analyzer/ (Right Click) Optimize Strategy, Strategy Dropdown Menu

All the files I’ve removed do not appear..

However after doing my archiving today, although the files I’ve removed when NT is running, do not appear in

    Tools/Edit NinjaScript/Strategy

    They do appear in…
File/New/Strategy Analyzer/ (Right Click) Optimize Strategy, Strategy Dropdown Menu

And not only that, I can still optimize the strategies in the dropdown menu that I've deleted. So I have no idea where NT is retrieving these files from as
    Documents/NinjaTrader6.5/bin/Custom/Strategy
    do not contain them...

Any idea what might be happening? Thanks

Just removing the files will not remove them from locations where you can run a strategy or apply an indicator, editing is different since it just looks at the files themselves, all else is loaded from the compiled DLL of your files.

You need to open any indicator/strategy file up, does not matter which one and compile it. This will create a new DLL that excludes the files you have removed.

Thanks Ray, I’ve recompiled the strategies that I have, however when I go into the dropdown menu
File/New/Strategy Analyzer/ (Right Click) Optimize Strategy, Strategy Dropdown Menu
I still have all the old strategies that I don’t want, I may have misunderstood but how do I get rid of them?
(I can only access the strategies that I've deleted in the drop down menu of Optimise Strategy, so I am unclear how I can remove them)
      Thanks for your patience

If it clears up the problem, would it be easier if I just reinstalled NT?

          No, re-install is not needed.

Tools > Edit NinjaScript > Strategy

Select the File you wish to delete, then press the "Delete" button. Do this for each strategy you wish to delete.

Have you you archived these strategies to a folder that is now a child folder of

              My Documents\NinjaTrader 6.5\bin\Custom\

              ?

              Have you tried restarting NinjaTrader?

Yes I've tried restarting and rebooting, with no improvement.

The problem was I didn’t understand how strategies are saved, I suspect I must have inadvertently messed something up.
So I have just reinstalled NT, and fortunately everthing now runs smoothly. I think I have a better idea now on how to archive strategies in future.
                Thanks again for your help.
