"Foreign" indicators?

One of the help pages seemed to suggest that add-on indicators could be used in building a strategy, but I haven't found out how yet. Can you point me to the directions? Or was I reading too much into it? Thanks. Breen

Can you link the page you are referring to so I can review what information you are asking about?

You can utilize most imported indicators with strategies if they are programmed in a way that allows them to be used. Not all indicators can be used, this is generally something you can determine by trying to use the indicator in a strategy condition. The strategy wizard is often the most simple way to check this as it allows you to pick from a list of indicators when creating conditions.

I will have to find that page again. In the meantime, I will give it a try. The indicator I want use colors a bar under certain conditions. At worst, perhaps I can abstract the useful parts of the code and build them into something better suited to a strategy. Thanks. Breen

Hello PBreen,

If the indicator is only coloring bars (no plots) it may not be able to be used, however, based on your comments it sounds like you may have the source code. If you have an indicator that colors bars but does not expose that as a signal, you may be able to do as you said and extract that logic to put into the strategy.
