    What is the BarsArray?

    Hi there, I'm writing a strategy with Multi time frame orders. I'm referring to your sample code, SampleMultiTimeFrameOrders, which contains this bit of code:

    Add(PeriodType.Minute, 5);
    Add(PeriodType.Minute, 15);
    ...
    if (SMA(5)[0] < SMA(5)[1] && SMA(5)[0] < SMA(BarsArray[2], 10)[0])
    ...

    I don't understand why BarsArray does? For instance, what is the difference between:

    SMA(BarsArray[2], 10)

    and

    SMA(10)[2]

    Thanks,

    Hello timmbbo,

    Thanks for your post.

    In the conditional statement if (SMA(5)[0] < SMA(5)[1] && SMA(5)[0] < SMA(BarsArray[2], 10)[0])

    BarsArray[2] would be pointing to the value of a 10 period SMA based on the 15 minute added dataseries.

    Without the BarsArray reference, the code would refer whichever barsarray called the OnBarUpdate.

    For a multi-time frame or multi series ninjascript, please make sure you review the help guide section here as this will help clarify barsarray references and other critical considerations: http://ninjatrader.com/support/helpG...nstruments.htm

    edit: added clarifying statement, "Without the BarsArray ..."
