Position.AvgPrice Returning 0

Using the following code:

EnterLong(DefaultQuantity,"Entry");
PT = (Close[0]+ATR(20)[0]*10.00);
SL = (Close[0]-ATR(20)[0]*3.00);
POS = (Position.AvgPrice + (35 * TickSize));
Print(POS.ToString());
Print(Position.AvgPrice.ToString());

Printout in the output window is:
8.75
0

The 8.75 is correct for the NQ but its not reading the position price.

Thanks for your post.

The reason that Position.AvgPrice is 0 in both cases is because the order has not yet been filled.

Once an order is sent by the strategy is has to be transmitted to the broker/exchange, processed, filled and acknowledged with the fill price. This is likely to take a few 10s to 100s of milliseconds depending on connection and processing time, meanwhile, your strategy continues processing your code.

You should check for being in a position before trying to access Position information. You can do this for example:

if (Position.MarketPosition != MarketPosition.Flat)
{
POS = (Position.AvgPrice + (35 * TickSize));
Print(POS.ToString());
Print(Position.AvgPrice.ToString());
}
