A coworker wants me to make him a Silver chart
I am only familiar with the S&P futures index. I do know, however, that there is a "cash" chart of the S&P, too. A coworker who doesn't know anything about investing asked me about silver. I told him I would get him a chart, and email it to him, and point out to him where the support and resistance areas are. Does Silver have a cash chart like the S&P does? I found a silver futures chart using the symbol SI, but I don't know if it will serve my purpose. I wanted to give him a daily chart with a year's worth of data on it. As a day trader, I am only familiar with how to make charts with shorts amount of time on them (e.g., 21 days). Thank you for your help.Tags: None

Hello patpat,
I'm not positive on your meaning by "cash" instrument.
Are you referring to the ^SP500 index?
This is not tradable but is an index (market metric) of those 500 stocks.
I'm not aware of an index for silver.
SI is a common future for silver.
To load a year of data, right-click the chart, select Data Series... -> on the right set Days to load to 365 -> click OK.Chelsea B.NinjaTrader Customer Service

Hi Chelesa, the S&P 500 index is commonly referred to as the cash chart. It is not tradable, you are correct. Only the futures index is tradable. Some traders look at the s&p cash for technical analysis. I don't think silver futures has a so-called cash chart. I was interested in pulling up a silver chart for my friend so he could look at the price action. Since this is not my area of expertise, I told him to look up a silver ETF called SLV.
