I have contacted Barcharts.com and they have informed thier development team on this inquiry.

I do not have an eta at this time on when a fix will be implemented.

As soon as I receive an update on this inquiry, I will post here.

I understand your concern for purchasing data that you are not able to use. However, I can let you know that Barcharts.com has excellent customer service and will work with you and your subscription if you need to seek data elsewhere.

Just got the following email from Barcharts:

For the $TICK we are base lining the value at 100.00 not at 0.00 as some
other services do but the values will move the same. We have done this to
avoid passing through negative numbers.

The difference in the $TRIN between Barchart and some other sources is
Barchart uses total NYSE volume, where as Interactive Data for example uses
only NYSE traded NYSE volume.

The $TICK and $TRIN are disseminated down our feed once every 5-seconds.

So basically their TICK data moves within a 20 point range, rather than the usual 2000 point range. Probably not as accurate as most people would like!

Opentick informed me that they plan to support NYSE Technical symbols such as TICK and TRIN at some point, but they were unable to commit to a timeframe. Please see the following discussion on the opentick forum:

So, Barchart.com is aware that they are transmitting wildly incorrect values for $TICK, values that are different than any other data provider in the world, and they have no intention of correcting the problem?

I find that simply astonishing.

And I certainly don't understand the reasoning - to avoid passing negative numbers. What difference would that make unless there were some serious limitations with their platform/infrastructure. Does anyone understand this?

Unfortunately, it would appear that Barchart.com is not a viable option for anyone who needs accurate data on market statistics

Have you received a response from barchart.com development concerning the problem with $TICK and $TRIN yet? Any ETA for a fix?

Thank you for replying.

Perhaps we are looking at ether two different indices or expecting data as a different index.

The data we are displaying from Barchart.com is correct. Click here for the data from Barchart.com for the Tick index:

I do agree with you in regards to the index ranging between -600 and 1000. I will consult with Barchart.com and verify which instrument needs to be created in NinjaTrader to receive the data you seek for this instrument.

Any word Ryan and Barcharts data feed for the Tick chart. It looks like they are now using 10,000 for a base line which really doesn't make sense.

Please see the explanation below as per the 10,000 mid point.

$TICX:NYSE TICK - actual value
$TICK:NYSE TICK - value of the $TICX + 10,000

$TICX is defined as the number of stocks ticking up minus the number of stocks ticking down on the NYSE.If $TICX reads +500, for example, then there are 500 more stocks on the NYSE ticking up than there are ticking down. Conversely if $TICX reads -500, this means 500 more stocks are ticking down than are ticking up.

If $TICX is displaying 500 then $TICK is displaying 10500. If $TICK is displaying -500 then $TICK is displaying 9500.

I have contacted them and they said that the TICX symbol should work but I would have to put that in manually. Do you know what the parameters would be for doing that?

I assume you mean using TICX instead of TICK like they said in their previous email? TICK is already in the platform.

From barchart.com's website quote for 4/29/09, the open high low close are

1142 1310 1142 1142

which does not seem right. Has anyone find a solution yet? I am in need to find a new data feed as well, but without correct NYSE TICK data barchart.com is not really usable for me.
