Adding a new instrument via an instrument editor vs. the chart.

Ordinarily a new instrument would be added via the instrument editor. This however is a bit tedious especially when one needs to enter dozens of stocks at a time and specify an exchange and a symbol map ticker for each one.

Another way to add a new instrument is by typing its simbol on a chart, then once the data appears, typing another name, and so on...
Doing this creates these symbols in the master instrument list without however creating a symbol map and specifying an exchange.
They can then be added to the custom instrument list a person is creating.

Adding symbols via the chart appears to be much faster than creating them. What effect is there on using these symbols later on (backtesting against them, etc) or any other effect that could arise as a result of the symbol not being mapped and the exchange being assigned?
I have so far created a number of symbols this way and backtested against them without seeing any differece vs. doing it the regular way.
Is there anything else that I need to look at or keep in mind?

    Thanks.

You should be able to add them either way but the chart is the better/suggested option when adding stocks. This should not have a negative effect on your backtesting.
