Newbie to Automated Trading seeking orientation material

I trade ES for several hours every day using a particular multi-bar set up on volume charts.
My rules work well and I trust them--3-4 years of manual documentation of signals/trades/P-L.
I want to education myself on the pluses and minuses of automated trading.

anyone suggest a source for an an overview, experiences etc. NT documentation is not doing it for me. Most forum questions are too specific.

Best place to start is a site that specializes in trading methods, but has no dog in the fight.
