    Commissions

    Hello,

How can I put myself commissions limits in NinjaTrader ? I want to know a system to put commissions limits by contract, not by trades.

    Thanks

    Ben

I trade on futures. When I go in tools/instrument manager menu, I can select for exemple FSMI and I can put a commission limit. My question is: this commission limit is for one contract or the total of a trade?

      Best Regards

        Hello,

        Thank you for your post.

Commission = Per side commission rate.

Units = The number of contracts/shares that the associated commission rate is valid for.

If you have a set number of units this would be in terms of contracts per trade. So if you had Commission set to 1.00 per side with a unit of 10 and then commission of .50 with a unit of 0. This would mean that the first 10 contracts would have a Commission rate of 1.00 and the rest a rate of .50 per side per contract.

            Hello,

I have an other problem with the commissions. I have placed a commission limit in Instrument manager/Instrument Editor/Misc for FDAX, FESX and FSMI for InteractiveBrokers. After, the commission line in account performance stay on 0.

What is wrong with my settings for the commissions ?

            Best regards.

              Hello Ben,

Commission can be included in your PnL calculations provided you have correctly configured NinjaTrader. Commission values can be defined for each connectivity provider per instrument and per instrument type.
Commission values are used in the following order:
              • From the instrument if a commission value has been defined else
              • From the instrument type if a commission value has been defined else
              • No value is used since none have been defined
Please follow the instructions below to define commission values per instrument type: Please follow the instructions below to define commission values per instrument: Critical: Ensure that 'Apply commission to PnL calculations' is enabled under Tools > Options > General tab.

After you have set up your commissions, please submit a few sim trades and generate an account performance. Please let me know if this solves your issue

                Hello Michael,

Thank you for your answer. Now the amount of the commission increase normally. I have forgot to enable 'Apply commission to PnL calculations'.

                Now it's ok.

                Best regards.

                Ben
