    Rollover dates

    Hi,

I found NG's rollover date in this calendar: http://ninjatrader.com/blog/trade-desk-calendar/ which is Tuesday, 9/27. However NT7's instrument manager told me it's 9/23. Which one is correct? If the one from the instrument manager is wrong, is there anyway to update it?

The same for GC. They are different. (CL's rollover date seems to be the same in these two places.)

I know I could watch volume to decide whether to rollover or not, but I would like to plan ahead.

    Thanks,

    Jack

    Hello Jack,
    Thanks for your post.
The NG settles on the 28th.
The 23rd should be the correct rollover and that is when we have historically rolled it over. Note that there is no official rollover date. Some users do it when volume switches, some wait until settlement.
If you want to rollover on a different date than when NinjaTrader is set, you can see the video below on how to do this.
Download NinjaTrader FREE at http://www.ninjatrader.comThis video demonstrates how to adjust and customize a futures contract rollover date within NinjaTrade...

The GC should be on the 12-16 contract since 7/29/2016.
See the link below showing the volume is on the 12-16 contract.
Find information for Gold Futures Volume & Open Interest provided by CME Group. View Volume & Open Interest

The GC will rollover to the 02-17 contract 11/30/2016
