    Period separator doesn't display correctly

    Hi,

    I trade multiple custom timeframes, others than default timeframes found on majority of trading platform. My problem is that I need the vertical lines which delimitate day by day to be correctly drawn on the chart. I mean, If I switch to 12 hours timefame, then on every vertical line wich corespond to a starting/ending day should be a 12h bar.Currently, with the Forex sessions, it doesn't work well.

    Something must be changed so we can have the vertical period separators correctly drawn.

    If I switch on the 2Day timeframe, there's no vertical lines at all. I don't know where a month begin and where it end, where a week begin or where it end.

    Also, the 5D period isn't the same with 1W period. Why ? One week = 5 trading days, so what appear on the 5D should be same with 1W , In fact when we switch on the 5D the platform automatically should switch to 1W . When we switch to 4W , then it should change automatically to M . Of course, the 28 and 31 day months should be taken in consideration, but I think you understand my point of view.

    I am not quite seeing what you were seeing my end. I was wondering if you could run this test on your system for me?

    • NT8 Control Center -> Tools -> Trading Hours
    • Add template
    • Name : TestEODLines
    • Add session :
      • Start day : Thursday
      • Start time : 2:00 PM
      • End day : Thursday
      • End time : 3:00 PM
      • EOD : Checked
      • Start day : Thursday
      • Start time : 3:15 PM
      • End day : Thursday
      • End time : 4:00 PM
      • EOD : Checked
    • OK

    The end result of this test, is that you should see two EOD lines one hour apart on your chart if you use this template. If this is not the case, please let us know.


    If this is the case, please send a similar set of instructions that I can use to reproduce missing lines despite EOD being checked in the session template.

      Hello,

      Unfortunately I am not able to create 2 EOD markers are not possible for a particular day. Check the printscreen below. In the printscreen "1" I tried the situation you presented. Printscreen 2 is another situation wich I've created arbitrary. I'm looking further for your indications.

                Thank you slighty, it looks like I am still having some difficulty seeing the same thing on my end that you are seeing on yours.

                Could I ask you to record a video of you navigating through your Tools -> Trading Hours section to set up a brand new template, and then applying this brand new template to your chart? This can be done with the freely and publicly available screen capture software Jing, https://www.techsmith.com/jing.html , or a similar program which can record video of what is happening on your screen. These quick instructions can get you started with Jing.
                1. When you start Jing, a yellow half circle will appear near the top of your screen. Please hover over it with your mouse
                2. A small + sign will extend out of this half circle. Please click on it
                3. When your cursor becomes two intersecting lines, please click and drag your mouse over an area of your screen you would like to record
                4. Please press the film strip button that appears to begin recording
                5. When you are finished recording, please press the square stop button that appears
                6. Please press the share button that appears. It consists of three vertical upward pointing arrows.

                You will then have the option to view your video on screencast.com . This is the link which can help me diagnose what is happening on your end. It is possible you will need to set up a free account in order to share videos.

                  please forgive my lefthandedness. It work!

                  Now I see that I SHOULD zoom the timeframe by moving the chart scroll from left to right and viceversa ! I use FOREX template. 24x5 and 24x7 still display wrong.

                  I'm ashamed , duh !!! It is enough for me, I will use Forex template for my needs. But it will be great if on higher timeframes than 1D would be period separators too.

                  Timeframes over 1D still doesn't display period separators at all.

                      Thank you very much for providing these videos slighty. With regard to session separators on daily bars, traditionally NT7 has not had these, and so I have submitted a feature request to the product management team for the following feature :
                      This customer would like to be able to display session separators on daily bars
                      I will follow up with more information as soon as it's available. If the feature requests already exists, a vote will be added to it.

                            Hello,

                            I am back with a new - and I think the last video - wich will clarify completely the situation I am reporting.
                            It will show how the VL (vertical lines) should be drawn and how the informations ,when we move cursor on a candle ,should appear . |

                            Actually about NinjaTrader 8 : when we move cursor on a bar, it display the time at wich the bar WILL END. This is wrong. It should display the starting time of bar. If that bar is the first bar of trading session (of trading day) , then it should be pierced by the Vertical line separator. I will show you in the video below three different trading platform (Netstation, ThinkorSwim and MetaTrader4) wich display this way. Guess what, cTrader platform display like the threee platform I present in the video. And guess what,majority of trading platforms display the same way these three trading platforms are displaying. Something is wrong with NinjaTrader.

                            P.S When I say in video "Netdania" I am referring to trading platform "Netstation"
