Thank you for your post.

To save a chart as a part of your workspace after opening your chart go to the Control Center->File->Workspaces->Save Workspace.

To save a chart template right click within your chart->Templates->Save As->Input a name then click Ok.

After saving the template if you would like to load this on other charts right click within the chart->Templates->Load->Select the template then click Ok.

is there a way to save a chart all by itself, instead as part of workspace?

Currently the chart window would be saved as a part of the workspace which would all windows that are open such as charts, SuperDOM, etc.
