    Merged Data is being replaced

    Hi

I have merged contracts from NQ 0907 into NQ 0908 (more or less on 13th/14th of changeover month)

I look at NQ 0908 on a 1440 minute chart set for start 8/6/2007 finish today, or last day today, 500 days back (with a vol indicator) and all is well.

Then when I re-open the same chart for NQ 0908 in which I expect to see the same data, all the volume data has gone for 31/3/08 - 13/6/08 - I assume this is the front end of 0908 overwriting for some reason???

I have done the same exercise for ES with the same problem.

I have gone back in and re-added the NQ 0608 data, all seems well and then when I reopen, same problem.

    Sorry, I don't follow.
    - if 1440min chart is working, then any minute based chart will work too, no matter if 1-min or e.g. 10-min chart
    - if bogus chart is e.g. a volume or tick or range based chart (which are all based on tick data), then there probably is no tick data available for the time in question or you did not merge tick data.

      Hope this clarifies:

I am not changing anything on the chart set-up.

It is minute based, with a the VOL indicator.

      All I am doing is:
      1. merging the data.
      2. opening chart to check it looks right - it does.
      3. Close chart.
      4. do something else - run a strat analy, watch a different instrument, it doesn't matter.
      5. re-open the chart and the VOL indicator shows none/incorrect data for the period 31/3/08 - 13/6/08.

        Let's try to simply:
        - you are not connected to any provider
        - first time you open a chart: everything (including volume) looks ok
        - you close the chart and open it again: then it no longer is ok?

Ok, your procedure works when I open and re-open the chart - no problem.

When I connect to zenfire and re-open the chart, the problem happens with the VOL data.

Thanks, however I can't see anything since the images are too small. Just click on them and you'll see.

Please attach some "normal" size images or send the images via Help->Mail to support (as attachment), subject "for Dierk" and reference this thread.

                          To clarify:
                          - you see VOL=0 (!) for the days in questions?
                          - which days are these?
                          - which provider are you connected to?

                            - It is not zero, but very low and nothing like the vol shown in the ES 0608 which I am merging in.

                            - days: 31/3/08 - 13/6/08

                            - zen-fire

please mail me to "dierk AT ninjatrader DOT com"
                              - the merged DB where vol is ok
                              - exact settings you apply as you open new chart which would overwrite the volume
                              Thanks
