Help needed setting up Forward Walking

Hello,

I have a strategy that I want to test with walk forward.
I have watched a few videos and tried to get my head around the setup.
I have firstly downloaded 1 year of historical data (i think) using the historical data manager, I have then gone into the strategy analyzer and selected the current ES 09-16 contract but this is where I am confused. If I want to run walk forward for 6 months do I need to select the ES contact 6 months ago and set the dates from this time up to the date today, I try and run the walk forward but keeps getting "there are no walk forward results available since the strategy has no parameters to optimize and walk forward"

Hello Ninj4Man,

Thank you for writing in.

You can select the current contract month. NinjaTrader will automatically download data for past months and merge and adjust as needed.

Can you please provide a screenshot of your walk forward optimization strategy parameters?

To send a screenshot with Windows 7 or newer I would recommend using Window's Snipping Tool.

Alternatively to send a screenshot press Alt + PRINT SCREEN to take a screenshot of the selected window. Then go to Start--> Accessories--> Paint, and press CTRL + V to paste the image. Lastly, save as a jpeg file and send the file as an attachment.
